Should Cleveland trade Kyrie Irving?

Should Cleveland trade Kyrie Irving?

It looks like Cleveland fans got hit with another bombshell this year. As if losing in the finals 4-1, to the Warriors just less than a month wasn’t enough. The firing/letting go of the General Manager David Griffin, who made the necessary moves to send the team to three straight finals and ultimately winning one of those championships. Who also was reported at the time of his departure, trying to put deals together that would bluster the roster. Some of the deals that had a bunch of big name superstars such as Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and Carmelo Anthony.

If sitting through all that wasn’t enough to bare, shocking news came out Friday, July 21st. Kyrie Irving the 2nd best player on Cleveland’s roster, the one who hit the game winner in 2016 finals asked the team to trade him. Kyrie no longer wants to play with Lebron and seeks to be the focal point elsewhere.

It seems like Robin is tired of being under Batman’s wing and wants to fight crime in another city to become his main superhero. Just like when Batman and Robin save the day together. Batman gets all the credit, even though both of them laid their lives on the line.

Kyrie is coming off a stellar season where he averaged 25.2 points, 5.8 assist, and 3.2 rebounds per game. That will be a big blow to Cleveland if they are not able to find pieces that would be able to replace those stats in a trade for him.

The Cavaliers were hit with this news last week. I’m surprised this info didn’t leak out faster. Stephan A. Smith has reported on the news since it has been broken that ” Kyrie and his team believe Lebron James and his people leaked the information.” Lebron and his people have not commented or confirmed the report, but Lebron has been quoted on saying “he will be hands off with what the Cavaliers do with Kyrie.”

Kyrie has reportedly named the Spurs, Timberwolves, Heat, and the Knicks as places he would like to go. The Cavaliers don’t have to honor Kyrie’s trade request as he is on contract with them for another year after this season. It will be hard to bring him back after all this, but Cleveland has to be smart with what they do if they keep or trade him.

A lot of conspiracy theories are floating out there because of this shocking news. Who would think a player would get tired of reaching the finals and having a chance to win another championship and play along with the best player in the league. Some believe Kyrie has got a feeling the best player in the world won’t be there next year and he is getting out of the town before the ship sinks. Or he believes in his skills and believes he is ready to take over a franchise himself.

Guess we have to wait and see how this story will end.

I think that it is foolish to want to leave a team that plays in the finals every year. Unless the problem is beyond fixing it would be better to play for 1 more season before throwing away another possible trip to The NBA Finals which you may find its not so easy to reach elsewhere.
