Analyzed Sports Expert Picks for 2017 College Football Playoffs

Analyzed Sports

As the first Saturday in the 2017 College Football season kicks off today at noon, it’s time for Analyzed Sports to make its early season predictions of what four teams will be in the college football playoffs.  Will there be any surprises outside of the prohibited favorites Ohio State and Alabama?  Check the predictions below and find out.

My preseason Playoff teams are Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and USC/ Washington. First off I had to go with Bama mainly because Bama has been to all of the College Football Playoff games since the system started and because I believe that Jalen Hurts will progress this year as a passer. More importantly, I don’t think the SEC will be as good this year and Nick Saban well he’s still the head coach there right? As for Florida State, I believe they will be the best team in the ACC this year and if Deondre Francois can be protected better by that FSU line, watch out. My only issue is the Seminoles will be they lost one of the best running backs ever to play in college football, in Dalvin Cook, so it will be interesting to see how good the running game is this year. Michigan to me was one of the best teams not to get in the playoffs last season, and I think they will only be better with head-coach, Jim Harbaugh, leading the way for the Wolverines to be on top of the Big Ten in 2017. Lastly, give me either USC/ Washington out of the PAC 12, the Trojans have one of the best Qbs in the country and were good toward the end of last season. However, they lost a unique Cornerback and dynamic special teams playing in Adoree Jackson so that he will be missed. As for Washington, I’m sure they will want to prove that they are worthy of a second consecutive playoff appearance after looking outmatched against Bama last season in the Peach Bowl. Jake Browning is also a solid QB for the Huskies, but he lost one of his favorite targets John Ross to the NFL draft this spring. Another reason I like UW is their defense is so quick, and for the most part during the Peach bowl they contained Alabama, it’s just that Crimson Tide defense was so good last season that scored off the Huskies mistakes.

My Four teams to make the 2017 College Football Playoffs are Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Florida State.

  • Alabama – No surprise here, Nick Saban is the best coach in college football and will a talented defense, and a more experienced Jalen Hurts, I can see them hoisting the College Football Playoffs Trophy for the third time in five years.
  • Ohio State – After the embarrassing loss to last years National Champion Clemson Tigers, I expect Urban Meyers and his group to be back in the playoff hunt again.
  • Oklahoma – A Heisman candidate at QB and five starters returning on the offensive front, should be enough to put the Sooners in the Playoff hunt, it’s just a matter of what seed.
  • Florida State – The potential loss to Alabama tonight will not have an impact on the Seminoles playoff dreams.  They will have enough season to rebound and play for the ACC Championship as a one loss playoff team.
