2015 NCAA Tournament Game Summary: Kentucky Wildcats vs. Hampton Pirates
Karl Anthony Towns Jr. had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the overall No 1 seeded Kentucky Wildcats to a 79-56 to win over the (16)-seeded Hampton Pirates in the 2nd round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament in front of a sold out crowd in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum! Center Thursday night.
Andrew Harrison contributed 14 points for Kentucky (35-0), which they will advance to the 3rd round of the NCAA Tournament to play (8)-seeded Cincinnati. Tyler Ulis scored 11 points, dropped 3 dimes and pulled down 4 boards, while While Trey Lyles scored 10 points, and 4 rebounds in the victory against the Pirates.
Quinton Chievous led the way for Hampton (17-18), with 22 points 10 rebounds, while Jervon Pressley helped the out-manned Pirates out with 4 points and 3 rebounds. Deron Powers and Brian Darden finished the game with nine points each in the defeat against the Wildcats.
Kentucky shot 43.8 percent of its first-half field goal attempts to take a (41-22) lead into halftime. The Hampton Pirates hit on 27.6 percent of their shots from the field during the first half.
The Wildcats finished the game shooting 45.9 percent from the field, and was only 30 percent on 3 out of 10 shooting from the 3-point range. The Pirates finished the game shooting 28.8 percent from the floor, while managing to shoot (18-of-23) from the free-throw line in the defeat to the Wildcats.
