By: Trent A. Brinkley January 19, 2015. Louisville, KY (Analyzed Sports)
I recently caught up with Stafford High School Senior Quarterback, Garrett Cropp, (6-1 205lbs), who will be showcasing his talents at a Skills Day today at Stafford HS. He took some time out of his weekend before the Skills Day, to do an exclusive interview with Analyzed Sports. Stafford HS Football is coming off a (1-10) season, but that didn’t stop Garrett Cropp for taking challenges in games, working hard in preparation, and knowing that they could win any game. Below is the transcript of the interview Trent A. Brinkley did with Stafford Senior QB, Garrett Cropp.
Analyzed Sports: You just finished your career at Stafford HS, what do you plan to do with signing day now less than 3 weeks away?
Garrett Cropp: I stay focused and continue working hard. I have to consider all options.
Analyzed Sports: How involved were your parents in your football career?
Garrett Cropp: My parents went to every game I have played since I was 8. They have been very supportive of my goals.
Analyzed Sports: What style of offense did you run at Stafford HS?
Garrett Cropp: We ran a mix of the spread and a pro style offense
Analyzed Sports: You play along side Dorian Judkins, who I did a story on earlier this month, what is it like to play with Dorian?
Garrett Cropp: Dorian and I are very close friends so it was always fun to be around him on the field. I love it when Dorian makes a play when we are on the field together.
Analyzed Sports: Your team went 1-10 this year as the QB, did you ever lose any confidence as the season progressed?
Garrett Cropp: No, I never really lost my confidence because I knew how much preparation I put in every week along with my team. I know that we were capable of winning in any game.
Analyzed Sports: How did you get interested in playing QB?
Garrett Cropp: My parents put me in parks and rec football when I was 8. My Dad actually thought I might be good at linebacker or defensive end. The head coach wanted to try putting me at QB my first year of football. It became a challenge for me and I fell in love with the position. I have been working on it ever since.
Analyzed Sports: What does football mean to you?
Garrett Cropp: I love to compete. Football means a lot to me. The game is my passion. I have gained many life lessons from this sport.
Analyzed Sports: What colleges are looking to recruit you for next year?
Garrett Cropp: There are several colleges showing interest. Some are Concord University, Clarion University, Central Connecticut State, and Charleston University.
Analyzed Sports: Who is a QB that you style your game after?
Garrett Cropp: I would have to say John Elway.
Analyzed Sports: If you could have one QB to serve as a veteran mentor to you, who would you pick and why?
Garrett Cropp: I would pick Aaron Rodgers. I like how he keeps his composure even when things aren’t going well. I love that he beat the odds coming out of high school. He was under recruited and now he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Analyzed Sports: Who is your favorite football player of all-time?
Garrett Cropp: John Elway is by far my favorite.
Analyzed Sports: Do you have a motivational quote that you look up to?
Garrett Cropp: “Every champion was once a contender that refused to give up”
Analyzed Sports: Who wins the Super Bowl this year?
Garrett Cropp: Patriots
