Nations Top High-School RB Damien Harris rushes for 318 yards, 4 TD’s
Class of 2015 #1 Running Back Damien Harris rushed for 318 yards, and 4 touchdowns as Wildcats Coach Mark Stoops watched Madison Southern destroy Madison Central 42-11. Damien Harris plays his high school football in Berea, KY. for Madison Southern High School. He is being highly recruited throughout the nation as one of the top prospects in his class. He is currently rated 10th overall in the nation, and the number 1 rated running back in the country. The Kentucky Wildcats are one of the five finalist for Damien’s services. The other finalist are Ohio State, Florida, Alabama, and Texas A&M. Wildcats Coach Mark Stoops is pulling all stops to keep the 5 star recruit in state. Stoops took a helicopter to watch Harris and his Madison Southern High School team defeat Madison Central 42-11. The 5’11 205 pound back appears to be leaning towards Ohio State, but Harris is on record stating his visit a couple of days ago to Kentucky was a 10.
I always have a great time when I’m on campus at UK. It’s always a great atmosphere,” said Harris. “Especially being an in-state kid. They show me a lot of love from the fans, coaches and players. My favorite part other than the game is being with Coach (Mark) Stoops and Coach (Chad) Scott. I love trying to develop a closer relationship with them.”
Ohio State will get an official visit tomorrow during their game against Virginia Tech. NBA Superstar Lebron James is supposed to be in attendance for the game against the Hokies while Harris is on his visit. Coach Mark Stoops and Running Backs Coach Chad Scott was in attendance for what will be their only appearance they will be able to make all season per the rules permitted coaches to visit a high-school recruit once after September 1st. Damien Harris will be a big get for the University of Kentucky football program, if Stoops is able to land him. It will allow the coaching staff to say to the bigger programs that Kentucky is going to fight to keep the talent within the state. Coach Mark Stoops is coming from seeing his first recruiting class of 2014 being ranked as the highest in school history. To follow-up with 5 star Damien Harris to headline a class of 2015 will be huge nationally for the University of Kentucky football program. Harris is scheduled to decide on where he will attend college on December 13. Coach Mark Stoops and staff are hoping that the helicopter will be enough to impress the number 1 running back in the nation to choose the University of Kentucky over the national powers that be. We shall see, but to Coach Stoops credit the helicopter move was impressive. Why Not?
