Analyzed Sports staff makes Super Bowl XLIX Predictions
It is that time again in Football fans in America.. Super Bowl 49 has arrived! It will be on Sunday, February 1, 2015 in Phoenix, AZ, between the (14-4) Seattle Seahawks vs the (14-4) New England Patriots. The Seahawks are the reigning 2014 Super Bowl Champions, and are looking to win back-to-back Super Bowl victories, which would only be the 8th team in NFL history to achieve that feat; the last time a team won back-to-back Super Bowls was the New England Patriots (Super Bowl 38 & 39). Below you will find the Super Bowl XLIX Predictions from Analyzed Sports’ Trent Brinkley, Charron Elliott, and Andre’ Chapman. Enjoy and Happy Super Bowl Sunday!!!!
Seahawks Offensive Leaders:
QB Russell Wilson (3475 Passing Yards 20 Touchdowns 7 INTs)RB Marshawn Lynch (1306 Rushing Yards 13 Touchdowns)WR Doug Baldwin (825 Receiving Yards 3 Touchdowns).
Seahawks Defensive Leaders:
LB K.J. Wright (107 Tackles 2 Sacks)DE Michael Bennett (7 Sacks)CB Richard Sherman (4 INTs).
Patriot Offensive Leaders:
QB Tom Brady (4109 Passing Yards 33 Touchdowns 9 INTs)RB Jonas Gray (412 Rushing Yards 5 Touchdowns)TE Rob Gronkowski (1124 Receiving Yards 12 Touchdowns)
Patriot Defensive Leaders
LB Jamie Collins (116 Tackles 4 Sacks)DE Rob Ninkovich (8 Sacks)DB Devin McCourty ( 2 INTs)
The Seahawks have played their best football in their last 8 games, with an impressive (8-0) record in those games, outscoring their opponents 193-78 in those 8 games, including a huge comeback from behind win in the NFC Championship vs the Green Bay Packers on January 19, 2015. The Seahawks will need to play like they did last year against the Patriots if they expect to beat the New England Patriots this year. Here are three reasons how the Seahawks can win:
Establish the running game with Lynch, Turbin, and Michael.Put pressure on the Patriots OL; Brady was sacked 21 times this yearFind ways to get plays to Luke Wilson; eliminate Gronkowski’s big plays
The Patriots however, are coming off a 45-7 win in the AFC Championship over the Green Bay Packers 45-7 on January 18, 2015. The Patriots are (6-2) record in their last 8 games. In fact, in the years the Patriots have won a Super Bowl, their combined last 8 games all-time record before a Super Bowl victory is (23-1). Here are three reasons how the Patriots can win:
Win the special teams battle; starting field possession, FGs, and puntingContain Russell Wilson from making plays with his feet outside of the pocketEliminate Doug Baldwin from making big plays
With these thoughts and a statistical breakdown, I have arrived at my score prediction for Super Bowl 49. My score prediction is: Seahawks 37 Patriots 24
With all the hostility building up for Super Bowl XLIX between Marshawn Lynch and the Patriots Deflate Gate I think the Seattle Seahawks will repeat as Super Bowl champions. I believe the key in this game will be Marshawn Lynch’s ability run the football and that he will score at least two rushing touchdowns. Another key component in this game is the Legion of Boom and how they can contain Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. I Think they will be able to do that with players like Michael Bennett and Kam Chancelor on defense. The Final score 35-20 Seattle Seahawks and Marshawn Lynch gets the MVP.
We all know what this Super Bowl will mean for Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, and New England’s organization as a whole if they were to win the Lombardi trophy, blah, blah blah… In my opinion, the Patriots are one-dimensional and will look to pass the ball to Gronk, and use their wide outs like Edelman and Lafell for quick passes across the middle in hopes to create huge runs after the catch. Instead of breaking them down, I will concentrate my focus on the team I pick to win come Super Bowl Sunday.
Let’s start with Marshawn Lynch, as he makes this Seattle Seahawks team go. He has the most yards rushing in the National Football League since 2011. Although this guy has a problem with talking off the field, he will do all his talking on the football field in Super Bowl XLIX. I predict he will run for over 100 yards and 2 TD’s in this game as the Patriots don’t have anyone to stop BEASTMODE. Earlier in the year when the team struggled, it was because the Seahawks went away from the energy of Marshawn Lynch who that team feeds off of.
Another guy to look out for in the big game to help Russell Wilson is Luke Wilson at Tightend. I know this team doesn’t have a house hold name at wide receiver like a Dez Bryant or Calvin Johnson, but the Tight End Luke Wilson will help keep the New England Patriots defense honest with his big play making ability down the field.
Defensively for the Seahawks we all know about Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Bobby Wagner the outstanding Linebacker, but Bruce Irvin can get after Tom Brady, he can also drop back and play well in coverage. Irvin plays with a good intensity and has great speed on the outside. Bruce Irvin is very disruptive as a linebacker because of his speed and was one of the keys in the 2nd half versus the Green Bay Packers not allowing the Packers running game to get the best of them after they ran all over the Seahawks Defense in the first half of that NFC Championship game. Plus Irvin plays with that edge. He will definitely try to fight you on the football field.
That type of toughness is indicative as to what the Seattle Seahawks defense is all about, and it is the reason they will win this game for Pete Carroll. DEFENSE wins championships. I predict Seattle and Russell Wilson will win back to back Super Bowl Championships against two of the greatest QB’s to ever play the game in Peyton Manning last year and Tom Brady this year.
Seahawks 26 Patriots 20
