Virginia needed overtime to defeat Purdue 80-75 on a rainy Saturday night in Louisville, KY to advance to their first Final Four since the eighties in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Cavaliers also had to overcome an extraordinary performance from the Boilersmakers junior guard Carsen Edwards who finished with a game-high 42 points on 14 of 25 shooting from the field. Edwards was also 10-19 from three in the heartbreaking loss to Virginia.
Virginia’s Kyle Guy finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds while Ty Jerome contributed 24 points and 7 assists in the win over the Boilermakers.
