Although this may be a game with the score in the high 70’s, Kentucky needs to control the pace as much as possible to get the victory against Indiana. Controlling the pace, by making this a grind it out game plays to the strengths of Kentucky.   Sensational back-court mates Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray will have to be stars in this game if the Wildcats want to advance to the Sweet 16. Kentucky will need to create turnovers to get easy scores in transition.  The front-court of Kentucky has to play like beast in order to keep the Hoosiers honest on defense.  It’s imperative Alex Poythress along with Skal Labissiere and Marcus Lee all have good games to lead Kentucky to its seventh victory in a row.  The Wildcats need to destroy Indiana on the boards and block out offensive rebounding opportunities.  This should be a fun game in Des Moines.

KEYS TO VICTORY – indiana hoosiers

Indiana University is coming off an impressive 99-74 win over Chattanooga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this past Thursday March 17th.  Kentucky and Indiana are both great offensive teams according to the KenPom, so expect IU to play to its offensive strengths in the game. Always keeping Kentucky on its toes by pushing the pace and using their spread out offensive is critical. Yogi Ferrell is key to making this team run.  Cutting down on unforced turnover and staying even on the boards will put the Hoosiers in the winning column if there able to do these things.  Freshman Thomas Bryant must stay out of foul trouble in this game as Kentucky can throw a few bigs at the Hoosiers.  Indiana is an excellent three-point shooting team so they need to continue to hit their three’s at a high percentage is the want to advance to the next weekend.

John Calipari on putting Indiana back on the basketball schedule again.

“We should play everybody? Why don’t we all play everybody and we’ll just do a Round Robin between those nine programs and that will be our non-conference schedule?,” Cal joked. “We’ll play each other. I’ll go for it if everybody else does. Well I’ll have my hand up by myself. We play who we play and they play who they play and it’s done. I mean, I’ve said I would have done it neutral, but we’ve added the CBS Classic with North Carolina and the guys, we’ve added the ESPN Classic with Duke and the guys. We’ve got a game in the Bahamas and we play a couple other games that are home and homes and we got that Challenge, which I can’t stand. January, had to go to Kansas. Come on!”
