4 Things to Watch: Big Blue Madness

Kentucky Basketball will open their 2015-2016 season tonight at Rupp Arena with their annual Big Blue Madness event for the fanbase.  Big Blue Nation will have the opportunity to see the new versions of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams starting tonight at 7pm ET.  If you’re heading to Rupp Arena, or you’re just fine with catching it on ESPN’s SEC Network live in its entirety , here are 4 things to watch for when tuning into this Big Blue Tradition.

What Dances will we see this year?  – It is officially a tradition every year at Big Blue Madness to see Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball players dancing to their favorite songs during introductions.  Kentucky Lady’s Head Coach Matthew Mitchell has even had some special dance performances inspired by artists like Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, James Brown, and Cali Swag District.  From the players side we have seen John Wall do the “Shizz”, the Kentucky Women do the “OG Shannon” and Jorts do “The Carlton”  What’s next?  Here are some of the latest dances you might see a UK Player do tonight: Silento’s Whip Nae Naee, IHeart Memphis’s Hit the Quan or Bankroll Fresh’s Hit Dem FolksWho will Commit between the Big 3? The Kentucky Men’s Basketball program will be hosting a ton of recruits for Big Blue Madness tonight including their top three targets from the 2016 recruiting class. 6″10 Power Forward Harry Giles, #1 Point Guard De’Aaron Fox, and 6’3 Shooting Guard Malik Monk will all be in attendance tonight to watch the Big Blue Festivities.  Will John Calipari get a commitment after all the excitement is over?  Remains to be seen, but rumors are swirling the De’Aaron Fox might be the first one to pull the trigger in the Cats favor afterwards, so keep an eye out on how he reacts to his visit.Alex Poythress Mental Confidence –  After suffering the minor setback of an ACL injury last December, Senior Forward Alex Poythress is ready for his major comeback, but is still not at 100%.  Yes he’s running and jumping and back practicing with the team, but he still hasn’t cleared the mental hurdle yet to fully trust his knee.  Be on a look out during the short scrimmage to see if he’s getting more comfortable with trusting his knee to make plays that only he is capable of making.  Get Well Alex Big Blue Nation is rooting for you. Will Drake be in Attendance?  Yesterday during basketball media day, Freshman Isaiah Briscoe stated that he doesn’t think Drake will be here this year, but other sources have stated that he will be here to actually perform at Big Blue Madness.  Which one is it? It would be one hell of a way to start a season seeing Drake perform his latest hit Back to Back in front of the sold out crowd at Rupp Arena.

Happy Big Blue Madness Big Blue Nation!
