Shawnee Golden Eagles

Kentucky High-School of the Week

Louisville, KY’s  Shawnee Golden Eagles High-School football team is the Analyzed Sports High School of the Week.  Shawnee’s Head Coach Jason Wyatt is doing great things over at Shawnee. This past Friday the Golden Eagles surpassed their total wins from last season after thumping Fort Knox 46-8.  The Golden Eagles are now 4-0 for the first time in over 24 years.  Next week the Golden Eagles take on defending state champ Louisville DeSales in what will be a match-up between two unbeaten teams in the city of Louisville.  Congrats Shawnee, you guys deserve it.

#21 Louisville Cardinals traveled to Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, VA to take on its first ACC opponent in the Virginia Cavaliers.  Virginia would come away with the upset over Louisville after a muffed punt by James Quick, which led to a game winning 42- yard field goal. The final score on the board would read 23-21 Cavaliers.  The win would end Virginia’s 11-game ACC losing streak. Louisville’s football head coach Bobby Petrino stated the fumble late wasn’t the reason for Louisville losing the football game.

“When you lose a game like this, we will watch the video and there will be 15 plays, individually, that if we would have made that play, we had a chance to win the game,” Petrino said. “We just didn’t make enough plays to win the game.”

1986 was the last time the Kentucky Wildcats beat the Florida Gators in football.  1970 was the last time Kentucky won a game in the Swamp.  Although Kentucky was competitive throughout the ball game, Florida would still come away with the victory to continue one of the longest conference streaks in college football with a 36-30 three OTS win. Gators fans left stunned after pulling off the close win, while Kentucky fans left the game excited about the future with a heartbreaking loss. Kentucky Wildcats 2nd Year Head Coach Mark Stoops was proud of the play of his young Wildcats. “I felt like our players really grew up tonight and really came here to win the game and really believed we were going to win the game – the whole way through,”

In 2015 I have visions of Kentucky Wildcats fans rushing the field of Commonwealth celebrating the end of the 29-year-old streak to the Gators.  It’s coming, because Kentucky’s football program is starting to turn for the better. https://www.analyzedsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/58433830501123163248707981312_2093ea9b0ee.5.1.4814275632796784597.mp4

Team usa mens basketball wins gold

USA Men’s basketball team defeated Serbia in the FIBA World Cup Gold game by a final score of 129-92.  Kyrie Irving was named the MVP after scoring 26 points in the game.  Anthony Davis was arguably the best player in the tournament, while Kenneth Faried raised his game to another level as well.  This young team will be able to keep the Gold in the United States where it belongs in the years to come.  Team USA Women You’re Up Next.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Boxing

The Best Defensive Fighter, and the highest paid athlete in the world Floyd Money Mayweather easily defeated Marcos Maidana in their Rematch Saturday night. Mayweather would win the fight in a 12 round unanimous decision.   Floyd did what he said he would do and made the fight boring by keeping his defense tight. There was holding throughout the fight, and no great punches worth talking about.  The only excited parts of the fight were Maidana biting Floyd through his boxing glove, and Maidana being perplexed entering the wrong corner after one of the rounds ended. Anyhow, Manny and Floyd need to make the mega fight happen in 2015, so both fighters can retire and we can move on, in hopes of boxing returning to the Heavy weight division.

cRAZY WEEKEND IN THE NFL

We all know about the stories of Ray Rice, Roger Goodell, and Adrian Peterson.  The NFL weekend would have one of its biggest days in injury history.  Injuries to RG3, Jamaal Charles, Doug Martin, Desean Jackson, Ryan Matthews, Eric Decker, and Knowshon Moreno all happen over this injury filled weekend. There are 14 teams in the NFL with 1-1 records, 6 teams with 2-0 records, and 5 teams with 0-2 records, with the Eagles and Colts left to play on Monday night.  Who had the Bills at 2-0 and the Saints at 0-2?  Not me.
