Fantasy Football Draft Day Do’s and Don’ts

It’s that time of the year again. Are you ready for some Fantasy Football?  Fantasy Football is back! The 2015 NFL Season is quickly approaching, so that means Fantasy Football drafts are being held throughout the country now.  Analyzed Sports had the pleasure of attending a Live Fantasy Draft Sunday in Louisville, KY. at the Sports and Social Club.  Goal Line Blitz is a 12 owner professional money league that has been in existence for over 12 years.  This league is very competitive.  You will get uninvited to next year’s draft if you don’t set your line-ups weekly during the regular season.  No and’s, if’s, or but’s.  While in attendance, I was able to witness some of the Draft day Do’s and Don’ts.  Here’s what to do and what not to do for a live Fantasy Football draft.

Don’tShow up late for your Fantasy Football draft.  Arrive on time, and be ready to bring the case of beer if you show up late.Have someone draft for you as an owner via satellite. This is frowned upon.  Draft your own team in person, and don’t waste other owners time by having someone else call you to give you the run down of players still available.  Family Reunions, or Death in the Family are the only excusable reasons to miss.Show up unprepared for your draft.  The commissioner of your league should have given every owner an ample amount of time to, download your Draft apps, print cheat sheets, and to pick up your favorite Fantasy Football sports publication.Underestimate a female owner. She’s there for a reason. She knows football too.Be the owner who calls out several players that have already been taken in the draft.  Scratch off the players as they’re drafted, or look at the Draft Board for Goodness Sake.  This is Bush League, especially when you’re calling off 3 or 4 notable names early in the draft. This owner should be sent back down to the free leagues.Rush other owners picks as soon as they’re on the clock, but have your name called several times after the draft clock has expired.  We call this the Red is Rojo Rule. Get into Sidebar conversations when the draft is dwindling down to the last 4 or 5 rounds. Stay Focused! Have your picks ready. Your drafting time should last no more than 2 1/2. hours. We call this the Come on Fellas I have something to Do Rule.Do Show up on time. This is what professional GM’s do, especially in money leagues.Schedule your drafts to take place at Hooters, BW3’s, In the Basement of your Buddy’s home, the Sports and Social Club, or any Sports Bar in your town sponsoring Fantasy Football Drafts.Get rid of the sauce and order 100 wings for the league with Rub on them.  Fire in your mouth, and a must for all Fantasy Football Draft Day’s.Bring the beer, order the beer, and drink the beer.  It’s an American tradition at any sporting event, including Fantasy Football Drafts.Mirror your laptop to display the draft board on 60 inches or better.  HDTV that is, the days of paper Draft boards and stickers are becoming obsolete. It was cool 5 or 6 years ago, but now the technology era is taking over.Order DIRECTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket, or Dish’s the Red-zone.  A must have for all Fantasy Football owners.Bring your dues the day of the draft.  It’s good to know the money will be there at the end of the year for any owner lucky enough to win the league. Plus no one wants to chase down the losers that didn’t pay.Show Up with your laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Fantasy Football Books the day of the draft.Have Fun, Talk Smack, Crack Jokes.. It’s Fantasy Football, a time to be strategic while having some fun bonding with the other league owners.

Happy Fantasy Football Everybody!!!!
