Is a Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Keith Thurman boxing match possible? Boxer Keith Thurman recently expressed his willingness to consider a future match against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. His comments generated much media coverage.  Yet figuratively at least, free bets and free betting odds suggest that several other candidates for Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s much anticipated September boxing match may also be under consideration.

Why Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Has Won Many Fans

During his exceptional boxing career, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. from Grand Rapids, Michigan has obtained numerous honors and distinctions. The son and nephew of professional boxers, he set his sights on a career in the ring from an early age. He won the national Golden Gloves Championship in 1993, 1994 and 1996. During the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, he earned a Bronze medal, narrowly losing the award of the Silver following a match that observers regarded as very impressive.

During his professional career, he went on to win 48 out of a total of 48 fights, 26 of them by KO. His record shows zero losses, zero draws and zero no contests. Nicknamed “TBE” (“The Best Ever”), Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has won championships in a stunning four different weight classes. His honors include winning the Best Fighter ESPY Award in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014 and the Boxing Writers Association of America’s Fighter of the Year Award in 2007 and 2013.

In May, he earned a reported $220 million during a well-publicized match with Manny Pacquiao. He announced last year that he plans to retire in 2015, and he still has one match left to go in a six-fight series of matches that will be shown on Showtime/CBS. The next fight, perhaps his final professional boxing match, will occur in September.

The name of the boxer who will fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has not yet been announced. Reportedly, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. recently proposed two names, expressing his willingness to fight either André Berto or Karim Mayfield. Some media articles have also proposed the name of Gennady Golovkin, a boxer from Kazakhstan who has acquired an impressive 33-0 record, with an astonishing 30 bouts ending in a KO.

Keith Thurman gained press coverage recently, when he was quoted in the media as saying: “A lot of people say I’m never going to fight Floyd Mayweather and he’ll never give me a shot. But I say that Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman will have a career with or without Mayweather because I’m going to be here at the top of the welterweight division for many years to come.”

Keith Thurman’s Impressive Boxing Career

Keith Thurman possesses great boxing talent. His 25-0 record also reflects an extremely high number of KOs. Of his matches, some 21 resulted in KOs. The 26-year old is regarded as tenacious and dynamic. A Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Keith Thurman boxing match undoubtedly would generate a lot of fan attention.  Keith Thurman is scheduled to fight boxer Luis Collazo on Saturday in a much-anticipated bout in Tampa, Florida.
