No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats vs. Boston Terriers |Game Preview

Boston Terriers (2-2, 0-0 Patriot) at  Kentucky Wildcats (5-0, 0-0 SEC)

The Wildcats will host the Terriers of Boston University Tuesday, November 24th in Rupp Arena on the SEC Network at 9:00 PM ET. Kentucky leads the series 4-0 last defeating Boston U last November 21, 2014 by a score of 89-65.  Boston U returns four starters from last years team. layed Northern Kentucky since the 1978-1979 season.

Date: Monday, Nov. 24

Game Time: 9:00 p.m. ET

Venue: Rupp Arena Lexington, KY.

Kentucky will play in its first game since being ranked Number 1 after the new Associated Press rankings were released this week. The previous No. 1 team was North Carolina who loss to Northern Iowa 71-67 over the weekend (Nov. 21).  The Wildcats should win this game by 20 or more, but they will need to continue to improve off their great win against the Duke Blue-Devils in the Champions Classic a week ago. Calipari’s team will need to improve on shooting the ball well from deep against a Boston University team that switches to a zone defense a lot.  The Wildcats are only shooting 27.6 percent on 16 of 58 shooting from behind the 3 point line.  Derek Willis is currently leading the team with the best 3 point percentage at 45.5 percent on 5 of 11 tries. Tyler Ulis and Jamal Murray are leading the way in scoring at 14.0 each points per game.  Ulis has also scored 39 points combined in the last two games.  Look for the Cats to push the pull early while trying to establish a low post presence with Skal Labissiere to force its will on the Terriers to try and cruise to an easy victory.

Boston University is coming off an impressive 78-66 win at South Florida on Nov. 21st 2015. The Terriers will have a monumental task coming into Rupp Arena trying to defeat the No. 1 team in the nation tonight. They will rely on their senior guard in John Papale who is averaging 17.8 points to lead the team and 2.8 assists per game.  As a team Boston University will probably put up around 25 threes in hopes to hitting on their season average of 41.7 percent from behind the 3 point line.  Taking care of the ball is huge for Boston U as they only have an 11 turnovers average on the season, but mostly importantly it will keep Kentucky from getting easy transitions buckets in the open floor. The Terriers could pull off the upset if they defend, rebound, hit 12 or more threes and take care of the basketball.

John Robic On scouting Boston and what problems they present :

“Watching the game last year, they have everybody back off that team. They have two players that are out right now, that haven’t played yet: (Cedric) Hankerson and (Eric) Fanning. They were two really good players. Last year they spread us out and tried to drive us probably because of our size. They mixed it up with man and zone against us, so we will anticipate that again. They are playing a little bit of both this year. They are 2-2 and they should be 4-0 after you watch the tapes. Very impressed by their personnel, what they run, and their players have gotten better this year, and that’s a credit to Joe (Jones).”
